Oriental Mindoro is home to pristine islands, incredible beaches and untouched nature.

Baco

Baco lies on the northern part of Oriental Mindoro and is the jump-off point to the majestic Mt. Halcon which stands at 2,586 meters above sea level which is the highest peak in the island. The mountain’s steep and treacherous trails present a serious challenge to even the most seasoned climbers. The old town of Baco also offers cool and refreshing mountain rivers where one can take a luxurious dip while enjoying the rustic scenery.

Bansud

From the word “basud” which means delta, Bansud is a peaceful town for quiet unwinding. One may visit nd trace the path to its humble past while enjoying the scenic lush view of the Rosacara Rolling Hills. One can also loosen up in its amiable beaches or at Manihala Falls and be at peace with nature and the simplicity of its people’s life.

Bongabong

Bongabong is known as the organic farming capital of Oriental Mindoro. Aside from this, it is a town of subtle history. Its Kuta Shrine is a 17th Century church and fortress and was declared as the province’s first National Historical Landmark by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

Bulalacao

Known as the gem of Oriental Mindoro, the island’s southernmost town of Bulalacao is best known as an island hopping destination with at least 11 scattered islands and islets believed to come from a meteor that landed in the area, thus the name “Bulalakaw”. It is famous for laid-back beach bumming in white sand shores and waters teeming with marine life.

Calapan City

Calapan City, the provincial capital of Oriental Mindoro, cradles the island’s largest and busiest port. Dubbed as the “City of Golden Grains” and “The Acropolis of the South” among its many titles, it is the main gateway to the province. It combines the convenience of an urbanized landscape and the attraction of its ecotourism sites and natural sanctuaries.

Gloria

A unique and charming destination, Gloria offers an array of unexplored resources and an abundance of bamboo in the area. The towering waterfalls “Walang Langit” is the town’s most enticing natural attraction along with the Agsalin Fish Sanctuary which is one of the best managed marine protected areas in the country.

Mansalay

Famous for its weaving industry and ancient burial grounds, Mansalay is home to Buhid and Hanunuo Mangyans whose culture is the most preserved among the Mangyan tribes. Rock formations south of the Mansalay Bay revealed the presence of ammonite, a fossil shell of an extinct group of mollusks that dates back to the Middle Jurassic Age. Mansalay’s shores such as Buktot Beach are of the same significance as its historic and cultural aspect as it presents wonders of nature.

Naujan

A town of pristine beauty and historical sites, Naujan is the largest municipality of Oriental Mindoro. It boasts the Simbahang Bato, a church made of corals bonded by lime mortar during the 16th Century of Augustinian Friars. Naujan is also the site of the Naujan Lake National Park. Lake Naujan, the fifth largest lake in the Philippines is home to a wide variety of fish and water birds. It is also declared as a wetland of national importance by the RamSAR Convention as it is a feeding area for thousands of local and migratory birds.

Pinamalayan

In adopting the rainbow as its official symbol, the town of Pinamalayan brings to life the tale of how it came to be. Best known for its Bahaghari Festival, Pinamalayan also boasts of its pristine coasts and marine protected areas.

Pola

Named after the distinct color of its soil (“pula” in Tagalog means red), the town of Pola is historically rich with a block of ancestral houses at the town center that will take travelers back to the early 19th Century.

Puerto Galera

From its exciting water sports activities to its best beach parties, Puerto Galera is known as the “Heart of Asia”. One of its prides is the Muelle Bay, famous for being one of the most beautiful bays in the world. Aside from world-class beaches and modern lifestyle, Puerto Galera has a touch of the countryside with Talipanan Mangyan Settlement where handmade baskets and beaded materials of the Iraya Mangyans are on display.

Roxas

Roxas is the smallest land area among the towns of Oriental Mindoro yet it has incomparably large opportunities for investments being a jump-off station for tourists. It also serves as gateway to other island destinations and is famous for the magnificent San Rafael Cave where adventure-seekers enjoy spelunking and cave exploration.

San Teodoro

Known as the land of cascading waters, it is abounding with waterfalls and inland waters, each unique amidst the lush greenery as it welcomes guests from near and far. The town of San Teodoro features a different kind of rural experience with its waterfalls and inland waters as the main attractions. Travelers may enjoy a carabao cart ride traveling to and from the unspoiled waterfalls.

Socorro

South of the expansive Naujan Lake lies the town of Socorro. The town has a view deck overlooking the lake and has a hidden treasure known as the Fortuna River where cruising, swimming, canoeing or having picnic on floating cottages can be enjoyed.

Victoria

Blessed with vast tracts of fertile land producing abundant harvests of durian, rambutan, lanzones, mangosteen and dragon fruit among others, Victoria is known as the “Fruit Basket of Oriental Mindoro”. It may not have beaches to boast of, but it offers an equally thrilling adventure with whitewater rafting along Bato Creek in Villa Cerveza.
